ZATON, A PERFECT PLACE TO GET AWAY
It takes 20 minutes by bus to get from Dubrovnik to Zaton, another place to find natural peace and beauty. The word "zaton" actually means a bay or a cove so it is well protected from winds coming come from the open sea. Zaton bay frames the villas of Dubrovnik aristocrats, old stone houses and embroideries for boats.
Small and Big Bay Mali Zaton (small bay) has a camping place, resting point for anyone with a tent and a sleeping bag. You will find a few apartments in that area.
It has a beautiful walking path next to the sea that leads from Mali Zaton to Veliki Zaton (big bay).
Veliki Zaton is a place with restaurants, coffee shops, post office, supermarket, bakery, nice spots to enjoy the sun and the sea...
Mali and Veliki Zaton offer to the visitor a nice choice of private accommodation, so if you really like Zaton and decide to stay for some time you won't have much problem in finding a place.
There are few beaches, among others a small pebbled beach with rocks shaped in a smooth form so it makes a natural bed suitable for sunbathing.
The end of path next to the sea marks the entrance to a small pine tree forest. Walking through the forest path leads to many hidden places with amazing landscape. The play of nature gets more interesting when you continue walking deeper into the forest. The sea in this area is clean as in most of Adriatic.
A nice and quiet weather circulates over this place non-stop. It reflects its quiet aspect especially in the evening when the moon reflects on the sea surface.
